Man! I have really been blogging up a storm!
This is the best preserved ancient theater, like, ever.
I wrote this about pizza and being a foreign exchange student for the Huff Po Teen
I Skyped with Zulfa and my mom today. Not at the same time. They are both good. I am too. I also bought some pants for, like, $12. They are orange.
I want butterfingers
Yesterday was my last Turkish class for a few weeks which is sad because now I am really starting to learn fast. I am starting to be glad that I didn’t bring a computer because despite the fact that I am always on my Kindle Fire I only Skype every two or three weeks, and mostly only my parents.
My host mom thinks I need to Skype my real mom more because my host mom’s son is in Indiana for the year and she misses him so much. I talk to my mom on Facebook a lot though. (Maybe too much). But I haven’t been very home sick ever and I think that’s OK.
I’m always on my Kindle because I read a lot of books. I read a lot of books at home too, but at home I would always read the same books again and again. But here it’s also different because I am not reading any of the books for school and I never talk about them with anybody else. Which I miss. Because in America it’s not like me and my friends sit around and ask each other things like “What did you think about Mrs. So and So’s character and her reference to blah blah blah?” But I would have tests or class discussions and I miss that.
Also I miss my friends. I have friends here but I still miss my friends at home because at home I would make friends based on things we had in common but here it’s more like whoever knows English or is willing to make an effort and repeat themselves five times in Turkish and doesn’t get too annoyed by that is my friend. And I am really thankful for those people because they are the reason that I am doing so well here but I still miss my friends at home.
I think I just said the same thing four or five times in that last paragraph which probably means that I should wrap this post up, and stick to pictures for the rest of the day.
Yesterday I went to the post office for the first time and sent 23 post cards. I also went by myself which was exciting because I almost never get to go places by myself. I had to ask a woman for help because it was really crowded and I didn’t know which line I was supposed to be in. But I asked in Turkish and she explained in Turkish and I understood. Lately I have been understanding almost everything, and whatever I don’t understand, I just sort of guess at and mostly that works.
This week I don’t have to go to school because no one is going to school. Techincally there is school, but it is the week before break and nobody is going to go.
On Sunday I am going on a big trip all around Turkey for two weeks. I am excited for that!
Also this is my new blog because there isn’t a Blogger app for Kindle Fire but there is a Tumblr app and I don’t have a computer with me.
